The 2022 Ghost Block’s Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced entirely from the winery’s Ghost Block Vineyard in Yountville, bordering the cemetery where the town’s founder, George Yount, lies to rest. The crown jewel of the family’s estate, these prime 18 acres are planted 100% to Cabernet Sauvignon on top of rarely found exposed vertical bedding of tertiary volcanics. Beautiful aromas of blackberry compote, plum jam, and black & red currant.

At the helm of winemaking is Kristi Koford, who has crafted Ghost Block wines since 2001. With a deep background in both technical winemaking and behavioral studies, Kristi brings an innovative, yet approachable touch to her craft. Beautiful aromas of blackberry compote, plum jam, and black & red currant are complemented by subtle notes of crème de cassis and vanilla.

The first sip coats your palate with silky tannins and delicate layers of bramble fruit to offer a well-balanced, approachable, and polished wine. The oak complexity of the wine is integrated amongst the black & blue fruits, with the lovely notes of warm fall spices and savory thyme.

The refined tannins accompany these flavors for a medium-bodied finish. This Cabernet is crafted to enjoy now, yet will continue to develop greater character and complexity if cellared through 2038.
