2015 Les Tourelles de Longueville
The 2015 Les Tourelles de Longueville is a blend of 55% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot that will be aged in 70% one-year-old barrels and 30% new wood. Harvest was between 18 September and 9 October, the fruit mainly from the "Sainte-Anne" terroir. It has a winsome bouquet in the making, almost Margaux-like with its hints of wilted violet petals coming through. The oak is nicely integrated here, as it is on the palate, medium-bodied with fine, saturated tannin, well-judged acidity, and impressive depth on the tensile finish. An impressive Les Tourelles that, as always, has one eye on commercial appeal. ~92 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
This Merlot-dominant wine comes from a vineyard not too far from the river. It has acidity, freshness and a soft rounded texture. The black fruit is generous, soft and opulent. There are just enough tannins to give it a great shape. ~92 Wine Enthusiast
2016 Les Tourelles de Longueville
Deliciously ripe and balanced with attractive, earthy nuances, surrounding ripe-plum and red-berry aromas and flavors. Sheet-like tannins layer up neatly and build a long, esteemed finish. Second wine of Pichon Baron. Try from 2023. ~94 James Suckling
The more Merlot-dominated cuvée, the 2016 Les Tourelles de Longueville is a beauty in 2016 and is a fare click better than the 2015. Fleshy, forward, medium to full-bodied, and straight-up sumptuous, with lots of cassis, cedary herbs, and spice-driven aromatics, it’s another terrific wine from this estate. It’s certainly the more approachable of the trio and ideal for drinking over the coming 10-15 years. ~92 Jeb Dunnuck
The 2016 Les Tourelles de Longueville is a blend of 58% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot (from young vines that are destined to go into the Grand Vin one day, according to Christian Seely), matured in 30% new oak for 12 months. It offers a mixture of red and black fruit on the nose, just a touch of melted tar with fine delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with quite a powerful opening, dense black fruit tinged with graphite, a solid Deuxième Vin with a slightly aloof finish (at least at the moment). There is a pleasant graphite note lingering long on the aftertaste that completes a fine Pauillac to enjoy over the next 12-15 years. ~92 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
2017 Les Tourelles de Longueville
A medium-bodied red with currants, smoked tobacco and some graphite character. Chewy and juicy. Plenty of fruit and intensity. Drink after 2021. ~92 James Sucklins
A blend of 55% Merlot, 27% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, the 2017 Les Tourelles De Longueville is all about elegance and finesse, with silky tannins and no hard edges. It has classic Merlot ripe cherry and raspberry notes as well as cedary herbs, spice, and a hint of violets. Beautifully balanced, with a great mid-palate, it's another terrific 2017 that's going to drink nicely for 10-15 years at a minimum. ~92 Jeb Dunnuck
2018 Les Tourelles de Longueville
Aromas of currants, walnuts and blackberries follow through to a full-bodied palate with fine, chewy tannins and a linear finish. Shows polish and beautiful length. Lovely second wine. Try after 2025. ~94 James Suckling
The more Merlot-dominated 2018 Les Tourelles De Longueville (66% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot) is a rocking little Pauillac with loads of red and black currant fruits, toasted spiced, dried tobacco, and earthy goodness on the nose. Rich, medium to full-bodied, and beautifully textured, it's well worth seeking out and is going to evolve for 10-15 years. ~93 Jeb Dunnuck
One of the two second wines from this estate, this is dominated by Merlot, giving a rounded, jammy character that is comfortably filled out with generous tannins. With chocolate and spice flavors, the wine is developing well. Drink from 2025. ~93 Wine Enthusiast
