About the Wine

The Forno name dates back as far back as the 1600s when it comes to winemaking in Northern Italy. The Il Falchetto estate was founded in 1940 by Pietro Forno who, at the time, was exclusively producing Moscato d'Asti. Spanning four generations, the Estate has flown under the radar and grown into a sleeping giant, producing outstanding single vineyard wines in Northern Italy's Piedmont region. Today the estate is run by brothers Giorgio, Fabrizio, and Adriano Forno who cultivate nine different varieties producing only top quality, single-vineyard wines, and offering the highest expression of variety in every single bottle! 

The history of Barolo and Barbaresco have lauded Piedmont as one of the primer wine regions of the world. This legendary region in the NE of Italy has much more to offer than the King and Queen of Italian wine. Amongst a wealth of riches, Barbera is Piedmont's hidden gem! 

Tasting Notes: 100% Barbera. The 2016 Barbera d'Asti expresses freshness red fruits, pleasant fruitfulness, good structure, balanced acidity, and a softness that brings it all together. It is the classic "happy hour" wine, suitable with canapés and sliced ham and salami.
