Patrick was a legendary winemaker who shaped many renowned wineries, including a 20-year stint as technical director at Château Mouton Rothschild. His final project, Bodega Son Mayol, flourished under his guidance, with his expertise in grape planting, cellar expansion, and staff training.

The Grand Vin 2016 is a Bordeaux-style red blend that reflects the winery’s dedication to excellence. A careful selection process ensures only the best grapes make it into the bottle, resulting in a complex, full-bodied wine built for aging.

Tasting Notes

70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot. A rich, structured red with deep layers of dark fruit, tobacco, and earthy minerality. The oak aging brings in subtle roasted notes, adding depth without overpowering the wine’s natural freshness. On the palate, it’s full-bodied with firm tannins, yet remains elegant and refined. Expect a long, lingering finish with a perfect balance of power and finesse.

Restrained bouquet with notes of ivy, bay leaf and ripe, fresh berry fruit. Plum, blackberry and elderberry. On the palate elegant, soft impression, has power without being obtrusive. Slightly noticeable tannin and long, mineral finish. Lots of fruit, slightly salty impression. ~93 Falstaff

A perfumed and punchy nose opens this fit Cabernet Sauvignon-led blend with lean red berry aromas and mild but notable oak. A full, chewy palate is weighty but balanced, with blackberry, blueberry and integrated creamy oak flavors.
