About the Wine

Crafted by MaryAnn and Larry Moone, founders of Moone-Tsai Wines, this bottle carries with it the legacy of two wine industry veterans who have earned some of the highest accolades in the wine world. Their journey began in 2003 with a mission to create rare and remarkable wines from Napa and Sonoma’s finest vineyards—a goal that has led to the production of multiple #1-rated wines from Wine Spectator.

MaryAnn, a Harvard Business School graduate, built her career in Napa Valley after helping to establish Beringer’s legendary Bancroft Ranch Merlot. Her influence was pivotal in creating wines that received international acclaim, including the distinction of three wines being named the #1 Wine in the World by Wine Spectator. She never forgot the allure of Howell Mountain, and with Larry, they set out to create Moone-Tsai—a winery built on a foundation of excellence, producing wines that highlight the best Napa has to offer.

Larry, with his background from Princeton and Stanford’s Graduate School of Business, has been instrumental in steering Moone-Tsai’s direction since 2010. Under his leadership, the winery’s production has grown from a single Cabernet to a collection of seven critically acclaimed wines each year, with an annual production of just 3,000 cases. Larry’s management expertise has helped elevate Moone-Tsai into one of Napa Valley’s most respected names.

But it’s not just the Moones who deserve recognition. The wines they create are guided by Philippe Melka, one of Napa’s most revered consulting winemakers. With a resumé that includes consulting for powerhouse wineries such as Dominus, Hundred Acre, and Bryant Family Vineyards, Philippe is recognized as one of the top winemakers in the world. His meticulous approach to winemaking is celebrated by critics and collectors alike. Robert Parker himself named Philippe one of the world’s top nine consulting winemakers. His expertise is evident in every bottle of Moone-Tsai, where he combines the best fruit with the most precise winemaking techniques to create wines of incredible elegance and complexity.
