About the Wine

Who would’ve thought Pinot Noir could thrive in Spain? The Ortega brothers did, and their bold vision paid off spectacularly. If you love wine adventures, as we do, then you'll want to grab a bottle of this easy drinking, value, Tuesday wine.

Nestled at nearly 1,000 meters above sea level, just west of Ribera del Duero, lies a vineyard that defies expectations. Here, amidst dramatic weather swings and rugged conditions, they planted vines in the mid-1980s. Today, they boast Spain’s only Pinot Noir, paired beautifully with Tempranillo to create something truly unique.

From a vineyard just a stone’s throw from iconic Ribera legends like Vega Sicilia and Arzuaga, this wine is a testament to determination and creativity. The extreme altitude and proximity to the Duero River yield a wine bursting with character. It’s vibrant, approachable, and as much fun to sip as it is to share.

Aging: 16 months in barrels of American and French oak.

Tasting Notes

Pinot Noir, Tempranillo. A medium-intensity garnet wine. Seamlessly blended with toasty and balsamic notes from 16 months in American and French oak. On the palate, it’s easy to drink, with Pinot Noir's expressiveness and Tempranillo's sweetness in perfect harmony, polished tannins, and a smooth, inviting finish. Not much oak here. It's really just a charming, fun wine that will bring pleasure to any party.

Critic Review

A rather rich, dense red with lots of blackberry and light jam to the walnuts. It’s medium-bodied with some chocolate and coffee to the medium fruity finish. Drink now. ~ 90 James Suckling

Style: pleasant, correct, fruity, mature, very primary, tasty, simple. ~Guía Peñín
