About the Wine
This is 2020 Jehan Emonin Beaune Premier Cru Côte de Beaune, and it’s exactly where you want a Premier Cru Burgundy to be: hitting its stride in the sweet spot of the 5–10 year prime drinking window. The structure has softened, the fruit has opened, and the complexity is just beginning to unfurl into something unforgettable.
Jehan Emonin isn’t just a label. It’s family history in liquid form. Named for Vincent Bouzereau’s grandfather, the man who inspired ten generations of winemaking in Meursault, Jehan Emonin is the beating heart of Domaine Vincent Bouzereau. The Bouzereau family has been rooted in Burgundy since the 16th century, and Vincent carries that legacy forward with meticulous care across his 24.7 acres of Côte de Beaune vineyards.
Every vine here is treated with respect. Sustainable farming encourages life in the soils, vines are Guyot-pruned for balance and airflow, and fruit is handpicked only at peak maturity. In the cellar, Vincent keeps it traditional: native yeast, slow fermentations, and oak applied with a steady hand—25–30% for Premier Cru—enough for polish, never too much to mask terroir.
And terroir is what shines in the 2020. The vintage brought ripeness and concentration, yet Vincent’s touch preserved freshness. Today, the wine bursts with red cherry, raspberry, and wild strawberry, laced with spice, earth, and a whisper of rose petal. The tannins, once firm, are now supple, framing a long, silky finish that only a Premier Cru can deliver.
This isn’t the Burgundy you need to hide in your cellar for another decade. It’s Burgundy ready to thrill right now. That’s the joy of a Premier Cru in its prime: a balance of fruit, structure, and evolved elegance that makes every sip feel like you’ve timed it perfectly.
Aging: 16 to 18 months on oak
Tasting Notes
100 % Pinot Noir. Round, well-balanced and rich, with a good length. The mouth has red fruits notes. This wine is very charming when it is young and can age easily, developing more complexity with leather and undergrowth notes.
