About The Wine

Founded in 1731 in Beaune, Bouchard Pere & Fils stands among Burgundy's oldest and most prestigious houses — a producer whose nearly three centuries of continuity are matched only by the quality of its vineyard holdings. The estate owns over 130 hectares across the region, including 12 hectares of Grand Cru and 74 hectares of Premier Cru, and has held a monopoly on the legendary Vigne de l'Enfant Jesus vineyard since 1791. That kind of staying power doesn't happen by accident.

Les Teurons is a Premier Cru vineyard in the heart of Beaune, the kind of mid-slope parcel that defines what Burgundian Pinot Noir can be when handled with restraint and precision. The 2022 vintage delivers the cool, floral side of Beaune — licorice and red berries laced with stony minerality and self-confidently dry tannins. James Suckling awarded it 94 points, calling out the elegance at the precise, long finish. This is organically farmed fruit from a 2.4-hectare block in the steep section of the site, where the soil runs chalky and the wines pull depth from the ground.

The wine marries red-fruit character with fine-grained tannins and a saline finish that keeps pulling you back to the glass. Ripe black cherry and raspberry, candied orange peel, oak and spice — the kind of harmony that comes from centuries of knowing exactly what to do with a parcel.

Drink it now or hold it. Burgundy from a house that's been perfecting its craft since before the American Revolution doesn't ask for patience — it rewards it.

CRITIC REVIEWS

What the Critics Said

Here is the cool, floral and licorice side of Beaune, these qualities married to a ripe yet sleek body with terrific stony minerality and self-confidently dry tannins. I love the elegance at the precise, long finish. From a 2.4 hectare block in the steep section of this site, where the soil is very chalky. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold. ~94 James Suckling

A dark purple colour. Quite a ripe fruit which could use the cleaning up of a racking, at which time it will have the sulphur adjusted. Dark ripe cherries on the nose. A wealth of fruit at the front end, some tannins but not astringent behind, a dark strawberry fruit to finish. This has the makings of a very good wine once it has finished its elevage and been cleaned up for bottling. Drink from 2029-2036. Tasted Oct 2023. ~93 Japer Morrison
