The 2022 Grand Mayne is a big, heady wine. Dark fruit, chocolate, new leather and licorice open in an ample, explosive Saint-Émilion loaded with character. Blood orange, spice, menthol and mocha appear later, adding aromatic lift and vibrancy to play off all that richness. There's certainly a lot of wine here. Gorgeous. Tasted two times. ~96 Vinous Media
Blackberries, black olives and blueberries with crushed-stone character on both the nose and palate. It’s medium-bodied with chewy tannins and a creamy texture. Extremely well-made. Best after 2030. ~95 James Suckling
Bright and essential in the sensory profile it shows notes of lavender, hibiscus, plums, hyacinth and magnolias. Many gardenias and hawthorn describe the secondary scene. Full body, silky tannins decidedly well extracted and an honest and frank finish of remarkable gustatory beauty. Better from 2028. ~95 WinesCritic.com
The 2022 Château Grand Mayne checks in as 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc, and it hit 14.5% alcohol, which is well with normal ranges. Its deep ruby/purple hue is followed by a concentrated, richly textured, balanced wine that has ample chocolate, red and black fruit, subtle leather, graphite, and sappy herbs and floral nuances. With medium to full body, ripe tannins, and outstanding length, it's beautifully done and has a terrific mix of finesse, elegance, and concentration. ~94 Jeb Dunnuck
Deep dark ruby garnet, opaque core, purple reflections, delicate rim brightening. Fine cherries, ripe plums, delicate orange zest. Juicy, elegant, fine fruit sweetness, some nougat, discreet acidity, long lasting, a substantial food wine with certain ageing potential. ~93 Falstaff
Impressive, textured with depth to the construction overall. Redcurrant and black cherry fruits, different levels of sweetness and acidity, helps add complexity, with a lick of liquorice that runs throughout. Nony family owners, 41hl/h yield, clay limestone soils. Harvest 8-20 September. ~93 Jane Anson, Inside Bordeaux
Plump and nicely weighted on the palate. Lovely fragrance and black fruit characters which are clean and pure and inviting. The tannins are almost chewy, powdery and gently fleshy, well integrated, coating the mouth with a crushed stone, liquorice freshness that is really appealing. You can feel the power underneath, clearly concentrated but delivered with precision and detail. A touch 'hot' and spiced on the finish, but there's lots to like here. Still a little compact and reserved but excellent ageing potential. ~93 Decanter
This spicy wine, aged in new wood, is rich and full with blackberry flavors. It's opulent in texture with layers of new oak that reverberate through the wine. ~92 Wine Enthusiast
