About the Wine
The name of this estate alludes to its history as a Benedictine priory. The allure of Prieure Lichine has been on an upward trend since the middle of the last century and is currently producing some of the greatest wines the estate has ever seen
In 1951, Alexis Lichine, called “the Pope of Wine”, took over the estate and added his name two years later. Thanks to his patient determination, he was able to add new vineyard plots, modernize the cellars, and renovate the monks’ former living quarters. Château Prieuré-Lichine’s fate was linked to that of the Lichine family for nearly half a century.
A new approach to managing far-flung vineyard plots has turned this diversity into a decided advantage, enabling Prieuré- Lichine to express the full complexity of its terroir thanks to an experienced and devoted winemaking team.
What do Chateau Teyssier, Ch. Talbot, Ch. Smith Haut Lafitte, Clos Fourtet, Domaine Laroche in Chablis, Dom. Saint-Prefert in Chateauneuf, Commanderie de Peyrassol in Provence, Tenuta Argentiera in Bolgheri, and Inglenook in Napa have in common?

2022 was an extraordinary vintage for Bordeaux, it was blessed with a 95 pt review by Wine Spectator who said: "A new paradigm for Bordeaux. Very aromatic and sleek, fresh and pure in feel, with all major varietals performing well; far more consistent than the 2018-2020 trio."

Critical Reviews
This is really something for the Prieure. The aromas are vivid and bright and so, so perfumed. Violets, other flowers and citrus blossoms too. Medium- to full-bodied with ultrafine polished tannins that go on and on. Cashmere texture. Long and seductive. Best after 2029. ~96 James Suckling
Deep ruby, opaque core, purple reflections, brightening on the rim. Fruity bouquet, ripe wild berries and cherries, fine spicy nuances, candied orange zest. Complex palate, juicy and fresh, a touch of chocolate, mineral and lasting, good length, certain ageing potential. ~95 Falstaff
Enticing aromatics, crushed rose petals, with a kick of dark cassis and blueberry fruits on the opening, well balanced, enjoyable, delivered with skill and retains the appellation typicity while not sacrificing the exuberance of the year. Good quality. One to age, you can feel the tannins holding everything firmly in place at this point. 32hl/h yield. ~94 Jane Anson, Inside Bordeaux
This has a dense core (with generous black fruits) and is very perfumed and ripe. The wine has a fine structure as well as an open character. ~94 Wine Spectator
