Decanter said, "Despite the (very) hot and dry season, 2022 wasn’t a typical année solaire, according to the verdicts of Burgundy’s winemakers, with quality and quantity to be found, many early-drinking options, but reds to lay down, too. Overall quality is very high for red wines. There is more concentration in 2022… even if you try to make wine for the future, they are showing quite well right now." Demand for Burgundy is soaring. 2022 Olivier Leflaive Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru is crafted entirely from Chardonnay, sourced from this powerful, broad-shouldered Grand Cru site straddling Puligny-Montrachet and Chassagne-Montrachet. The vineyard’s deep soils give the wine its signature weight and depth, while careful fermentation and élevage in French oak, followed by extended aging on the lees, build texture without muting the site’s natural energy.
