There are few figures in modern wine who have so profoundly reshaped the landscape as Paul Hobbs. Often referred to as the “Steve Jobs of wine”—and just as aptly, the Spielberg of winemaking—his influence spans continents and generations. From his early role as Robert Mondavi’s right hand to becoming the first winemaker at Opus One, Hobbs helped define what luxury New World wine could be. A graduate of UC Davis with a Master’s in Viticulture and Enology, he went on to found a global portfolio of benchmark estates, including Paul Hobbs Winery and Crossbarn in California, Viña Cobos in Argentina, Crocus in Cahors, and Yacoubian-Hobbs in Armenia. Today, he consults for more than 30 wineries worldwide, and his wines have earned consistent 95–100 point scores from the world’s most respected critics.
ALH is not simply another project under his belt—it is something far more personal.
It is the collaboration with his daughter, Agustina Hobbs, and the natural evolution of a philosophy decades in the making.
Agustina represents a new generation of winemaker: globally trained, commercially astute, and deeply rooted in both tradition and innovation. She earned her degree in Enology and Viticulture from Cornell University, one of the most respected programs in the world, and sharpened her craft through harvests in both Mendoza and Cahors. Her experience extends well beyond production—having worked across international markets in Japan and Hong Kong, and later managing regional sales in New York for seven years, she understands not only how great wine is made, but how it lives and breathes in the world.
While she may not yet carry the decades of scores and headlines that define her father’s career, her credibility is built on something arguably more compelling: immersion, discipline, and a global perspective that few young vintners possess. She has grown up inside one of the most exacting standards in wine—and now brings her own sharp instinct for what comes next.
ALH is where these two forces converge.
The guiding philosophy remains balance—meticulous stewardship in the vineyard, minimal intervention in the cellar—but the energy is unmistakably forward-looking. Paul’s relentless pursuit of perfection meets Agustina’s fresh vision, creating wines that are both precise and alive, rooted in tradition yet unbound by it.
This is not just a continuation of a legacy.
It is the passing of the torch—refined, reimagined, and already in motion.
