    About The Wine

One of my favorite wineries, Beau Vigne’s Vineyard, sits at a high elevation in the southern Napa Valley, back Soda Canyon Road, overlooking the Pritchard Hill Gap as well as the Stagecoach Vineyard. The AVA for these wines is Atlas Peak, and the soils are all of volcanic origin. This winery is currently on a qualitative roll.” ~Robert Parker

Since 2005, Barrel Chaser has been a transcendent project celebrating the 2005 vintage, when a barrel fell off the back of the truck on its way up Atlas Peak. Ever since it has become one of the most beloved labels in the Beau Vigne portfolio.

A bold, beautifully structured blend led by 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, this 2023 release highlights the vintage’s exceptional purity and balance.

Renowned winemaker Julien Fayard uses his expertise to produce wines that express pure, terroir-driven specificities and characteristics. Julien gained his knowledge and defined his core winemaking style from working at grand Chateaux in France, such as Lafite Rothschild and Smith Haut Lafitte.

Beau Vigne flies under the radar as a “hidden gem” and small boutique winery producing only a few thousand cases a year. Fans and critics alike flock to the winery for its outstanding wines and genuine hospitality, including famed critic Robert Parker who refers to Beau Vigne as “one of my favorite wineries.”

Beau Vigne’s wines are highly esteemed and cherished among some of the world’s most important winemakers, and they have achieved numerous high accolades. Today, they are considered among Napa Valley’s most acclaimed wines.

The 2023 vintage hits different – and now we know why. This was the year that changed everything. It's incredibly delicious right out of the gate, but here's the kicker – it's only going to get better with time, and it's coming from what experts are calling "a once-in-a-lifetime" growing season. This is the kind of wine that makes you want to buy a case just so you can experience its evolution and tell people you own bottles from the vintage that redefined Napa Valley. Some bottles for tonight, some for next year, some for that special celebration you haven't even planned yet – because this is the vintage people will be talking about for decades.

Cherry preserves and red florals jump from the glass, backed by a hint of mocha.

The palate hits broader and deeper—currant, dried cherry, white pepper, and a thread of sweet tobacco. Firm tannins and vibrant acidity snap everything into place, giving the wine both power and polish.

    THE PRODUCER

    Beau Vigne

Established in 2002, Beau Vigne—French for "beautiful vineyard"—is a boutique winery nestled within Napa Valley's esteemed Atlas Peak appellation. Perched at 1,400 feet, the estate's prized vineyard flourishes in volcanic soils, yielding bold and luscious Cabernet Sauvignon that captures the essence of mountain-grown fruit. Over the years, Beau Vigne has garnered acclaim for its commitment to crafting influential luxury wines, with renowned winemakers such as Kirk Venge and Julien Fayard contributing their expertise. The winery's portfolio also includes prestigious red blends, Pinot Noir, and Chardonnay, sourced from Napa Valley's top vineyards. Visitors can experience these exceptional wines at the Maison Fayard tasting room, located at 1408 2nd Street in downtown Napa.
