About the Wine
The Soul of Morgon, Bottled with Heart.
Let’s make one thing clear: this is not your average “Beaujolais.” The Domaine de Thulon Morgon ‘Les Charmes’ is a straight-up stunner. Crafted from old vines rooted in granite-rich slopes, this wine doesn’t whisper Morgon—it roars it. It’s juicy, bold, and elegant all at once.
Born from the iconic ‘Les Charmes’ vineyard—one of the crown jewels of Morgon—this wine delivers that rare balance of power and finesse that turns casual drinkers into lifelong fans. It’s the kind of wine you bring to a dinner party when you want to look like you really know what you’re doing.
And here’s where it gets even better: it’s made by a family who actually lives and breathes wine. The Jambons aren’t a brand; they’re real people, real farmers. Annie and René started it all after two decades of backbreaking work as sharecroppers. They bought the Château de Thulon estate—yes, a literal 15th-century château—and turned it into a thriving, sustainable winery. Today, their kids are running the show with that same hands-in-the-soil mentality and a fresh streak of experimentation that keeps things exciting.
Every vine is farmed by hand. Every decision made by the family. From the granite-studded vineyard to the final cork in the bottle, this wine is crafted with old-school know-how and next-generation passion.
In the glass, it’s pure Morgon: ripe cherries, violets, and that earthy, iron-kissed backbone that gives it structure and soul. It drinks beautifully now with a little chill but has the bones to evolve for years if you’ve got the patience. (But honestly, why wait?)
Wines from Morgon’s top vineyards can easily push past $75. This one? Not even close. Domaine de Thulon’s 2023 ‘Les Charmes’ isn’t just a smart buy—it’s a steal. A bottle that overdelivers in every possible way.
Tasting Notes
100% Gamay. The Morgon Les Charmes has a clean and vibrant bouquet with perfumed dark cherries, redcurrant, and a touch of gravel and rose petal. The palate is nicely structured, brimming over with energy. The acidity is very well-balanced, yet quite sturdy, as Morgon should be, but without the hard edges. Abundant mineral-laced raspberry, boysenberry and violet pastille flavors are supported by a subtle white pepper quality that builds on the back half.
