About The Wine

“Sancerre is home to some of France's tangiest, most thirst-quenching white wines, made from Sauvignon Blanc.” ~Wine Spectator.

Sancerre is an appellation located in the eastern part of the Loire Valley. This appellation produces red and rosé, but it’s undoubtedly the white Sancerre the flagship style of the whole region.

We love Sancerre, and so do some of the most celebrated wine critics in the world, like Robert Parker, who described Sancerre as "a beacon of purity and precision,” or Wine Enthusiast, who said it is "the epitome of elegant white wines.”

In Sancerre, the Millet name runs deep. The Daniel Millet et Fils estate sits in the southern part of the appellation, in the village of Crézancy en Sancerre — a quieter corner than the more famous Bué, but with no shortage of exceptional terroir. Since 2000, brothers Sébastien and Nicolas have run the domaine with the same commitment to quality that their family has practiced for generations. The label itself — Louis Millet — is named for the next descendant, already waiting in the wings. This is a family that thinks in generations, not vintages.

What makes this wine distinctive is its three-terroir approach. The domaine farms parcels across Crézancy en Sancerre and Bué, each with fundamentally different soils: the pebbly Caillottes, the clay-rich Terres Blanches, and the iron-laced Terres Rouges.

Each parcel is vinified separately, then blended to find the best balance of fruit and structure. The farming is clean — no herbicides, no artificial fertilizer, with soil cultivation and grass management in place of chemical shortcuts. Grapes are pressed immediately at harvest, gravity-fed into tank, and aged on fine lees for texture and depth.

A classic Sancerre profile that the three-terroir blend is designed to achieve — the Caillottes bringing citrus precision and zip, the Terres Blanches adding body and floral lift, the Terres Rouges contributing a touch of roundness and depth.

Expect aromas of lemon zest, white peach, and green herbs, with a clean mineral thread and refreshing acidity on the palate.

The lees aging adds a subtle creaminess to the finish without sacrificing the wine's characteristic freshness.
