---

Couvent des Jacobins is one of Saint-Emilion's most storied addresses — a 13th-century Dominican convent in the heart of the medieval town, with cellars running beneath its cobbled streets. History you can taste.

This is Merlot-led Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classe from clay-limestone soils, the foundation of Right Bank grace. The house signature: plush red and black cherry layered with violet and cocoa, lifted by that fine limestone freshness that keeps Bordeaux honest, all framed by supple, polished tannins on a long finish.

Offered here as a pre-arrival future — the 2025 vintage lands later this year. The kind of pedigree most retailers can't touch, at a price that makes building a proper cellar feel less like a fantasy.

We taste 5,000 wines a year. We buy 4%. This is what makes the cut.

CRITIC REVIEWS

What the Critics Said

Fresh and bright, with aromas of sliced oranges, dark berries and cedar that follow through to a medium body with fine tannins and a crisp and bright finish. ~ 95-96 James Suckling

Gorgeous deep and juicy plum and blackberry aromas with subtle spice: a superlative aromatic expression. The best expression I recall from this estate en primeur, hats off for the spice, the velvety tannins, and the balance. A wine that is thirst quenching insofar as you have depth but also lots of tension and energy. Cooler clay soils certainly played a role in the success as did the judicious tannin extractions, with integrated tannins from the 35% new oak. ~ 94 Decanter

Offering up notes of ripe cherries and cassis framed by toasty oak, the 2025 Couvent des Jacobins is medium- to full-bodied, rich and dense, with a concentrated core of fruit, plenty of structuring tannin and lively balancing acids. It's another strong performance for this 10.5-hectare Saint-Émilion property. ~ 92-94 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
