About The Wine

Monte Xanic changed Mexican winemaking.

Founded in 1987 in Valle de Guadalupe, the winery pioneered techniques like night harvesting and micro-oxygenation that established Baja California as a serious wine region—first in Mexico, then abroad.

The name Xanic, from the Cora language, means "the flower that blooms after the first rain," a nod to the desert's sudden transformation. The goal from day one: make wines that stand alongside the best in the world.

Vina Kristel Sauvignon Blanc is the wine that delivered on that promise. Named after founder Backhoff's youngest daughter, it's Mexico's most recognized Sauvignon Blanc—the iconic bottling that put Monte Xanic on the international stage.

Over 50 medals earned, vintage after vintage, from constant vineyard care and meticulous fruit selection. It embodies what Valle de Guadalupe does so well: aromatic intensity, bright acidity, and a purity that reflects the region's cool coastal influence and warm days.

The 2025 is night-harvested to lock in freshness, hand-sorted, and pressed immediately. The result is pale straw with green reflections, explosive aromatics of grapefruit, lime, passion fruit, and guava, and a palate that's all citrus and tropical fruit backed by high acidity and a touch of minerality. Light to medium body, crisp, clean, and built for the moment you pull the cork.
