About The Wine

Crafted with the expertise of master distiller Gioacchino Nannoni, Altesino's Grappa di Brunello was first created in 1977. The fresh pomace is distilled just hours after racking in a copper still using a discontinuous method with low-degree columns.

Nestled in the heart of southern Tuscany, Altesino is not just a winery but a guardian of Montalcino’s rich history and pristine landscapes. Since 2004, under the stewardship of the Gnudi Angelini family, Altesino has continued its pursuit of excellence.

In 1975, Altesino introduced the concept of the “Cru” with their Brunello di Montalcino Montosoli, and by 1979, they were pioneering the use of barriques. The first Grappa di Fattoria, created in 1977, marked a modern approach to wine production that continues to this day.

The Montalcino landscape, now a UNESCO World Heritage site, remains largely unchanged and wild, providing an ideal environment for producing exceptional wines. This untouched beauty is reflected in every bottle of Altesino Grappa di Brunello, a product of both tradition and nature’s bounty.

At Altesino, every detail matters. From the careful hand-selection of grapes to the eco-sustainable winery facilities, Altesino ensures the highest standards in every aspect of production. This commitment is evident in the 1984 Grappa di Brunello, offering a perfect balance of tradition and modernity, elegance, and innovation.

Altesino Grappa di Brunello shows a light yellow colour with golden hues, a result of its brief maturation in wooden barrels. On the nose, it offers a delicate and fruity aroma that hints at the complex flavours within. The palate is soft and balanced, delivering an exquisite blend of vanilla and oak notes, with a beautiful persistence that intensifies the aromatic sensations. This grappa is a harmonious blend of tradition and innovation, capturing the essence of Tuscany in every sip.
