This is the best showing yet of the 1985 Latour, a wine that I have consistently rated in the mid to upper eighties. Most tastings of it have revealed a light, precocious style of Latour. At two tastings this summer, the wine was considerably richer and fuller. While surprisingly evolved and soft, it appears to possess more body and depth than I initially projected. It is an outstanding wine, with deep color, soft tannins, and plenty of the classic mineral, cassis, walnut-like fragrance that characterizes many vintages of Latour. Approachable now, the wine should reach its plateau of maturity by the mid-nineties and last through the first decade or more of the next century. - 90pts WA

This is an absolutely beautiful bottle of wine. Beautiful nice ruby red colored wine. Cassis black berry kumquat strong oak meat leather smoky licorice. Everything indeed. Took almost one and a half hour to open. Amazing and fantastic. Still can keep indeed. Tannins are still Not mature at this point in time. Great for a wine that's basically 20 years old right now.
Great Dark brick colour. Intense nose with cedar and fruit. Lots of ripe fruit and still tannis despite the age. Perfect wine and a perfect evening.
Was thinking to go but.... Woah, an '85! Why not! Lots of tertiary in there, soy sauce, menthol, but still some fruit. Yeeha!
