About the Wine
Long the darling of Kings and celebrities, Roederer’s Cristal bottling showcases the best of Champagne. The wine is robust, rich, and yeasty--aromas of fresh croissants, baked white peach, meyer lemon and cream come together in a Cristal worthy of its Tête-de-Cuvée status! Already glowing with incredible complexity and consistently high ratings from critics, this is a truly stellar bottling that combines Roederer’s own vineyards with the best growers in the region to make a stellar Champagne. A true wonder of Champagne terroir and exceptional winemaking this is THE bottle for celebrations big and small, don’t miss out!
After two decades of cellaring, these bubbles are showing gorgeous purity of fruit and distinct minerality, and this wine is only going to get better in the next twenty years. A combination of not one or two, but SEVEN Grand-Cru vineyards, including some of Roederer’s estate vineyards, the 1997 is a remarkable Champagne.. Expertly blended with 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay, the 1997 bottling showcases the chalky soils of Champagne, which remain unclouded by malolactic fermentation. A showstopper on any table where it appears, don’t pass up this golden offer!
Very Rare. Very limited.
In its famous clear bottle, this is one of the best known prestige cuvées, and also the oldest, made first in 1876 for the Russian Tsars. This most recent vintage is a very fine wine in a great tradition, revealing elegance, flavors of red fruits and impressive complexity from the blending. The aftertaste is extraordinary, going on seemingly into the distant horizon. ~94 WE
Very fresh, complex nose combines soft citrus fruits, toast and minerals, with hints of red berries. Penetrating, bright and very intense, with powerful citrus and mineral flavors that turn sweeter toward the back end. The chewy finish of pear and hazelnut really stains the palate. Ultimately quite pliant and harmonious, in the style of the year. ~94ST
