About the Wine

"Amazing complexity and beauty with plums, tangerines, and walnuts. Full body and extremely silky textured tannins with gorgeous balance and beauty. Goes on for minutes. Superb wine. Best Nenin since the 1950s." ~96 James Suckling

Chateau Nenin is located on the “Right Bank” of Bordeaux in the Pomerol appellation and was formerly owned by the Despujol Family since 1847. But in 1997 it became the property of the Delon Family. The family has deep roots and experience in Bordeaux, they were owners of Chateau Leoville Las Cases in St. Julien appellation and Chateau Potensac located in Haut Médoc.

In 1999 they expanded the estate by purchasing 4 hectares of vineyard from Chateau Certan Giraud. Later in 2004, a restructuring of the winery was carried out; from the vineyard to the cellar. The cellar was extended and renewed with modern equipment. And to finish this magnificent renovation, they built a new vat room with state-of-the-art equipment.

Chateau Nenin has 32 ha of planted vineyard with 78% Merlot, 21% Cabernet Franc and 1% Cabernet Sauvignon. The terroir is formed of alluvial soils composed of siliceous clay and gravel, quartz, granite, iron deposits, and basalt pebbles. A true paradise that delivers high-quality, outstanding, and elegant wines.

Legendary winemaker Michel Roland is Château Nenin's winemaker consultant. He now works with over 80 Chateaux in Bordeaux and has consulted internationally in famous estates like Bond and Harlan in Napa, and Ornellaia in Italy, making him one of the most sought-after consultants in the world.

2010 Chateau Nenin Pomerol is a complete work of art that will seduce from the very first sip, and after over 13 years of aging in bottle, this wine is perfect to drink TODAY!

Tasting Notes: 82% Merlot and 18% Cabernet Franc. Garnet-purple color. On the nose, elegant notes of blueberries and blackberries, hints of mocha and cigar, and floral aromas like violets. On the palate, very structured and long finish.

Amazing complexity and beauty with plums, tangerines, and walnuts. Full body and extremely silky textured tannins with gorgeous balance and beauty. Goes on for minutes. Superb wine. Best Nenin since the 1950s.~96 James Suckling

The nose is aromatic, elegant, finely powerful, and offers harmony. It reveals notes of crushed wild blackberries, crushed cassis, and small notes of wild raspberry, crushed redcurrant associated with touches of toasted oak, tonka bean as well as subtle hints of spices, oak, and Sichuan pepper. The palate is fruity, and well-balanced, and offers tension, elegance, straightness, fine suavity, depthless, a good structure as well as an aerial/strict side and a nice grain. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of fleshy/juicy Boysenberry, cassis, and ripe wild strawberries combined with hints of cocoa, raspberry, toasted hints, gray pepper, and imperceptible/discreet hints of flowers. Tannins are fine, a bit grainy, and offer a beautiful grain. Good length. Beautiful persistence with slight notes of cocoa and coffee. ~93-94 VertdeVin

Dark ruby, purple reflections, delicate bright rim. Fine plum fruit, a touch of nougat, ripe cherry underlay, pleasant herbal savouriness. Full-bodied, chocolaty texture, elegant, well-integrated tannins, fine caramel note on the finish, a versatile food wine.~93 Falstaff

Intense color with crimson highlights. Enticing nose with upfront fruit. The palate is still firm yet is a faithful rendition of the vintage combining exuberance, warmth, and concentration. ~93 Gilbert & Gaillard

A much brighter fruit profile - more concentration to the fruit and it sits atop the oak a little more. Very refined on the palate, the juiciness of the fruit nicely matched by grippy but refined tannins. There is a hefty structure there, but a sense of brightness and some edge and energy too. ~93 Tom Cannavan

This is deliciously plump, with blackberry and plum fruit at the core, studded with lightly toasted spice, and framed with a roasted vanilla bean note. A lingering cocoa edge chimes in on the finish. Best from 2014 through 2023. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. 4,166 cases made. ~92 Wine Spectator

A wine that is deliciously perfumed from the Cabernet Franc in the blend. The wine has very ripe black fruits, with contrasting intense acidity, toast, and dark chocolate. It's powerful and concentrated, with good aging potential. ~92 Wine Enthusiast

An 82% Merlot and 18% Cabernet Franc blend that hit 13.9% natural alcohol, the 2010 Nenin is a full-bodied, deep plum/purple-colored wine with loads of sweet boysenberry, black currant, and cherry notes, as well as hints of earth and spring flowers. Broad and deep, it could turn out to be one of the best-made wines from this estate. It will drink well for 15 or more years. ~90-92 Wine Advocate
