2022 Chateau Tour Maillet Pomerol

The 2022 Château Tour Maillet is a 100% Merlot cuvée that delivers darker fruits, graphite, and serious minerality on the nose. Gorgeously concentrated on the palate, it has fine, ripe tannins, a broad mid-palate, and a layered, round, and textured mouthfeel. A serious, structured wine that spent 16 months in 50% new oak barrels, it should evolve gracefully for 20+ years. Total production: 1,083 cases. ~95 Jeb Dunnuck

Good depth and complexity, with fine wood spices, dark cherries, cassis, berries and touches of dark chocolate and tar. The tight and almost full-bodied palate is packed with dense, dark fruit. Long and structured in the finish, with a balsamic touch at the end. Concentrated and structured. Drink from 2027. ~94 James Suckling

Potent and intense on the nose, forward and expressive. Smooth and supple on the palate, lovely agility but with grippy tannins that cushion the fruit and provide a wide structure for the wine. Dense but refined, weighty but not too much, with cool blue fruit touches and edges of florality throughout. Nicely worked with lots of energy and style. Tannins are grippy and hold the interest, needing to soften in the future, but this has clarity and nice detail. A bit more serious than some by the finish, the concentration and intensity showing through with subtle touches of liquorice, clove and toast. 2.2ha vineyard.
