About the Winery

After two highly rated, sold-out vintages (94pts WA on 2010 vintage), this Cabernet Sauvignon by Hunt McKay tore out of the gates to much acclaim and recognition from Robert Parker and Wine Advocate. Created by winemaker Michael Trujillo, Hunt McKay 2012 is made using 100% Cabernet grapes from the same Morisoli Vineyard in Rutherford, Napa as the earlier vintages.

Hunt McKay winery, run by three friends, Karen, Danna and Michael, recently rebranded as KaDieM Cellars—the phonetic spelling of the three friends’ initials (KDM). Its logo shows three wine glasses entwined as a symbol of their friendship, families, and a toast to their commitment to truly brilliant winemaking.

Reviews

The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Rutherford has slightly more density than the 2011, darker black currants and a hit of blueberry, licorice and lead pencil shavings. It should drink nicely for 10-12 years. ~90pts WA
