About the Wine

This amazing sweet wine is made from overripe grapes with noble rot. It has aromas of passion fruit, papaya, mango, nuts, and notes of jasmine and honey. Its excellent acidity and long and very pleasant finish stand out. 

Skyhook was born out of Derek Beitler's love and fascination for the Rhone region. Derek is the winemaker and owner of JDB Wines. He comes from a winemaking family that’s as well regarded as any in Napa. You may have heard of his uncle, Charlie Wagner, founder of Caymus. His brother owns Bohème in Sonoma.

Derek does not rest on the successes of his family, though. He spent his summers working at Caymus while in college and continues the pursuit of perfection in crafting his namesake wines. He now owns two wineries—Carne Humana Winery in Napa which he founded with his cousin Joey Wagner in 2010. But before that, he started his solo venture, JDB Wines, in 2007.

Aging: 30 days in neutral oak barrels.

Tasting Notes

75% Sauvignon Blanc, 25% Semillon. This wine is wonderfully sweet and rich, with a zesty acidity that keeps it lively. Aromas and flavors of caramel, roasted peaches, pineapple, golden raisins, clover honey, and a touch of lemongrass. It feels like indulging in pineapple upside-down cake, followed by the crispness of a caramel-coated green apple. Enjoy!
