About the Wine
Pax Mahle landed in Napa Valley in 1997. Following a stint as a wine buyer at Dean & Deluca, he started producing wines. He particularly focused on cool climate Syrah. With the launch of Wind Gap in Petaluma, he began to focus on lower alcohol Pinot Noir sourced from organic and low-intervention vineyards.
Reviews
The 2013 Chardonnay Gap's Crown is another wine with a real sense of phenolic richness and verticality. Almond, hazelnut, stone fruit and pear notes abound, but it is the wine's structure that is most apparent today. At the moment, the Gap's Crown is very much folded in on itself, but it nevertheless offers tons of potential for the future. ~93+VM
