About the Wine

If you love aged Bordeaux, here's a chance to taste a 10 year old wine that is in an excellent drinking window. Medium bodied with the unmistakable scents and flavors of terroir, this is an easy drinking wine that will pair with any food.

“In creating each of our wines, we want to offer the best interpretation of the quintessence of the Medoc, the singular expressions of four inseparable factors: our terroirs, our grape varieties, our environment, and know-how.” ~ Jean Guyon.

Step into the world of Jean Guyon, the visionary who transformed Domaine Rollan de By from a humble 5-acre estate in 1989 to a sprawling 500-acre jewel in the heart of Médoc. Once known for its quality, this estate now stands as a titan of the Crus Bourgeois, revered for its exceptional terroir and innovative winemaking.

At Domaine Rollan de By, the magic lies in the balance. Here, respect for the local environment dances with cutting-edge technology, creating wines that are nothing short of extraordinary.

The 2014 vintage in Bordeaux was outstanding. Neal Martin sums it up perfectly: "The leitmotifs of 2014 are freshness, terroir expression, an erring towards red rather than black fruit, crisp and occasionally quite edgy tannins, and vivacity. These are wines destined to sing in the wine glass, wines less concerned with impressing critics like me, more intent on pleasing consumers like you (and me)".

A masterpiece born from Jean Guyon's dedication and the finest fruit of By's vineyards. Embracing sustainable farming practices, this wine epitomizes elegance, subtlety, and finesse.

Why just read about it? Taste the excellence, feel the history, and let 2014 Chateau Rollan de By Medoc elevate your wine experience!

Tasting Notes

70% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc, 10% Petit Verdot. If you love Claret, this is a complex wine that is in a sweet drinking window. With balance and depth, it’s a wine showing some tertiary flavors like tea leaves, cigar box, and dried leather. Blackberry fruit shines through making this a classic Bordeaux to enjoy through 2028.

Critical Reviews

"The savory and earthy notes give this a lot of personality." ~91 James Suckling.

"The home chateau of the group of properties owned by the Guyon family, this estate has produced a solid very age-worthy wine. It has dark tannins and rich juicy black fruits. With its structure and bright berry and plum flavors, it will not be ready to drink before 2020." ~91 Wine Enthusiast
