About the Wine

Amavi Cellars signifies love (amor) and life (vita) through the world of wine! Family owned and operated for two generations, Amavi is 100% sustainable with an unparalleled dedication to producing estate-grown wines that showcase the distinct personality of Walla Walla. So nice they named it twice! Third generation winemaker Jean-François Pellet leads the charge after stops in Switzerland, Spain, and Napa. The Estate has received much acclaim over the years: 2015 Winemaker of the year, two Top 100 wines of the year awards, two Top 100 Wineries of the year awards - the list goes on. These are world-class wines built from the ground up, the 2015 Syrah is a Rhone lovers' gaga!

The 2015 growing season was the latest in a trend of being the warmest on record the valley. The record-breaking heat gave way to cooler days and nights around veraison, allowing the fruit to develop perfectly. Wines of this vintage are richly structured, showcasing ripe fruit and floral characteristics. The 2015 Syrah comes from Grand Cru Washington vineyards like Seven Hills, Les Collines, and Pepper Bridge just to name a few. A gorgeous vineyard blend ready to challenge any top French producer!

Aging: 100% French; 92% neutral, 8% new

Tasting notes: Red Wine. 87% Syrah, 13% Grenache. The 2015 Amavi Syrah opens up with aromatic plum, blackberry, crushed rock, and spice box. The palate is smooth & richly with developed tannins, accented by dark fruits like blueberry, blackberry, fig, with a hint of olive tapenade. The finish is elegant, smooth, and everlasting. Best paired with BBQ pork ribs, roasted lamb & chicken, ratatouille.

Reviews

The keenly priced 2015 Syrah reveals spicy aromas of blackberry and cassis that mingle with notes of chocolate and lilac. On the palate, it's full-bodied, ample, and lavish, with a generous, open-knit profile, low acidity, and a rich, savory finish. A success in its style, drink it over the next 6 or 7 years. ~91WA
