About the Wine

2015 was a precocious vintage with wines showing an amazing purity and readiness to drink, even in their youth. From the first en premier barrel tastings, the vintage was already earning high praise and comparisons to the mighty 2005 vintage. With a few years in bottle, 2015 and 2016 have now been blessed as great back to back vintages like 2009 and 2010. Importantly, Merlot and the Right Bank shined brightest in 2015. Don’t miss a chance to gobble up these wines.

Vignobles Gaboriaud has been producing high-quality Bordeaux since 1962. Founder and former brewer, Jean Bernard-Lefebvre, left northern France, moved to Libourne in the southwest of France, and began a new life as a wine merchant. Located at the entrance of the village, Lalande de Pomerol, Jean-Bernard discovered an estate he couldn't be without, Château Bourseau. Since he purchased the estate, it has grown two-fold with vineyard holdings dedicated to Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Jean Bernard-Lefebvre instilled a historic tradition passed down to future generations. His legacy and passion are continued and improved by incorporating modern techniques for the production of these hidden pleasures!

The history of the estate lives through the garnet-colored wines produced with the greatest respect for the ecosystem and the terroir. The estate has been operating sustainable agricultural practices for ten years and counting. Chateau Bourseau is a diamond in the rough, an estate defined by quality winemaking and an underdog mentality, waiting for the next scout to discover their hidden talent.

Tasting Notes: Red Wine. 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc. Magnificent color, intense velvety ruby, typical of the appellation. This cuvée offers a very wide aromatic palette. The notes of red or black fruits are enhanced with spicy, fruity, and woody hints. Medium-plus bodied on the palate, with beautifully balanced acidity, and a delightful finish.

Reviews

This wine, dominated by Merlot at 75%, is rich and full. It has weight and dark fruits, ripe tannins, and good potential for aging. Hints of chocolate don't detract from the black plum and berry flavors and general richness of the wine. Drink from 2022. ~92 Wine Enthusiast
