Very attractive and vibrant purple berries, dark cherries, blueberries, fresh earth and violets on the nose. This is a pretty wine with real purpose. The palate delivers a sleeve of perfectly ripe dark-plum and blueberry flavors and makes a deep-set impression via succulent, lustrous tannins that roll smooth and deep. Fresh, earthy finish. I loved the 2015 La Violette from barrel and it didn’t disappoint from bottle. Sporting a deep purple color as well as sensational notes of violets, black currants, toasty oak, and graphite, this awesome 2015 hits the palate with full-bodied richness, a seamless, sexy texture, no hard edges and fine, fine tannin. It’s the purity of fruit that really sets this gem apart and despite carrying serious amounts of richness and depth, it glides across the palate and is almost weightless. The 2015 La Violette is superb. Silky and expressive, with fabulous aromatic presence, La Violette is all finesse. Inky blue/purplish fruit tones open into hints of sweet tobacco, new leather and licorice. The 2015 is at once supple and also light on its feet, with superb balance and an inviting personality that will be virtually impossible to resist for those lucky enough to own a few bottles. ~96 VM
