About the Wine

Trimbach is one of the Top Alsace producers. They produce some of the highest-quality premium Riesling and Gewurztraminer wines in the world, which constantly achieve great accolades. This Maison is crafting some of the most exceptional white and red wines in the world. One little know secret is their outstanding Pinot Noir. This is their top bottling.

Wine Spectator said, “In Alsace, although most wines tend to be dry and fuller-bodied than their German counterparts, Trimbach's house style is quite the opposite: graceful and intense, with an austere character.” 

This Maison has been around since the 16^th century when the Trimbach family arrived from Switzerland. Twelve generations of disruptive winemakers have impregned their expertise into Trimbach. Today, Pierre Trimbach, an enologist who graduated from Beaune, is leading this world-renowned estate.

Trimbach’s location couldn’t be more perfect. Its semi-continental weather brings extreme temperatures, with very cold winters, which are optimal for high-quality Riesling to thrive. The soil is composed of marl-limestone-sandstone and shell limestone (Muschelkalk), which gives Trimbach's wines a remarkable personality. 

The 140-acre vineyard is planted with vines of 45 years of age on average. They’re distributed in some of the best terroirs in Alsace: Ribeauvillé, Bergheim y Hunawihr. Each of them provides different and exciting characteristics to the wines.

​Trimbach’s vineyards are managed under sustainable practices and certified by the HVE3. For more than 10 years, they’ve been doing fully organic viticulture.

Only produced in exceptional years, this wine comes from the best parcels of the Rotenberg vineyard in Ribeauvillé. Rotenberg’s terroir for Pinot Noir is red irony clay similar to Volnay 1er Cru Les Caillerets in Burgundy.

Tasting Notes

100% Pinot Noir. Aromas of wild strawberries and raspberry compote, with an element of minerality and notes of earth and mushroom. The wine is soft and lush on the palate crisp with fruit flavors and red fruits. This is a wine a wine of great maturity and opulence with succulent fruit. The long development of the wine is synonymous with its long ageing potential.

Critical  Reviews

Very pure notes of red cherry fill the nose. The same pure fruit is framed by bright, luminous freshness on the palate, which echoes in flavors of cherry, pepper and licorice. An aromatic, fresh and vivid Pinot made with a light touch. ~93 Wine Enthusiast

This bright red is light- to medium-bodied and well-knit, with trim tannins framing flavors of raspberry and pomegranate fruit, anise and graphite, revealing a hint of citrus peel on the minerally finish. Drink now through 2023. 250 cases made, 75 cases imported. ~91 Wine Spectator
