Under the same Borie family ownership as Château Ducru Beaucaillou in Saint-Julien, this wine shares something of the same rich approach. Velvet tannins still give a dry edge to the rich black fruits and perfumed acidity. The wine needs time and will be ready from 2023. ~ 90 Wine Enthusiast

About the Wine
The owner of Cantelaude-Borie: Bruno Boire, also owns Ducru Beaucaillou in St Julien. Emmanuel Bonneau is also the technical director across this and the St Julien estates.
This wine comes from the “Left Bank” of Bordeaux, called: Moulis-en-Médoc, this town is situated on the hill of Médoc, overhanging the Tiquetorte stream, which flows into the Gironde estuary. The appellation sits northwest of Margaux and southeast of Pauillac.
Moulis-en-Médoc was named “AOC” in 1938, and it’s the smallest appellation in the Médoc region. But wine history in this region began in the Middle-Ages when the feudal and religious communities established the plantation of the vines in this place that was used to be the “barn of Bordeaux”. The millers, later became winegrowers.
In this AOC, grapes must be grown in Arcins, Avensan, Castelnau, Cussac, Lamarque, and Listrac and must come from vineyards with planting densities between 6,500 and 10,000 plants per ha. The soils are made from clay and limestone which are perfect for producing high-quality wines. The most planted varieties are Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
Some of the most famous wine producers located in this region includes: Chateau Poujeaux, Chateau Chasse Spleen y Chateau Branas Grand-Poujeaux, Bel-Air Lagrave.
The value for the customer is that a second growth team that charges $300 a bottle for their top wine, also makes this.
