About the wine

Chateau La Croix de Gay has a long history in Pomerol that dates as far back as 1772! They become one of the first producers on the right bank to bottle their wine at the estate. Today, the Chateau is overseen by Chantal Lebreton; loaded with modern facilities and a new cellar, La Croix de Gay produces wines with charm and energy! After 60 minutes in a decanter the wine exude a perfumed elegance ready to dance across any palate!

7 acres of vineyards, averaging 30 years in age, are divided into 10 different parcels planted to 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc. Chantal Lebreton attacks the wine making process with the same energy and perfectionist attitude previous generations produced this wine with! The 2016 Chateau La Croix de Gay is accumulation of generations striving to create the ultimate expression of the right bank dignitary, Pomerol!

Tasting notes: Aromas of ripe plums, boysenberry, nutmeg, and cocoa bean lift out of the glass. The palate has a soft textured, medium bodied, and an elegant Pomerol charm. The final crescendo is stuck with a light, black cherry and tomato leaf finish.

Reviews

Love the seductive nose of ripe blackberries, pomegranate and baking spices. Ripe and rich, the dry tannins balance the extravagant body beautifully and give this some real charisma. Long, very ripe and creamy but focused finish. Drink or hold. ~95JS
