About the Wine

McGuigan winery is one of the most awarded wineries in all of Australia. Most of its wines have received 90+ points from some of the most important wine critics in the world. And only in 2017, they received a total of 595 medals. In 2019, Neil McGuigan was named for the 4th time, “Winemaker of the Year” by the International Wine Challenge (IWC).

The story of this award-winning winery dates back to 1880 when the McGuigan family arrived in Hunter Valley. Today, the estate has vineyards in some of the most emblematic wine regions like McLaren Vale, Langhorne Creek, and Barossa Valley.

Neil McGuigan is the owner and winemaker. With more than 30 years of winemaking experience (and 4 “Winemaker of the Year” awards), he sure knows the Australian wine biz. He produces high-quality, premium wines that will enchant even the most demanding wine palates.

McGuigan Hand Made is 100% Shiraz. This label is an extremely limited one, and as its name implies, it's 100% handmade. It comes from the vineyards of the outstanding town of Langhorne Creek, crafted with grapes from low-yielding vineyards. The result is a magnificent, powerful yet elegant Aussie Shiraz. This wine is the pinnacle of the McGuigan portfolio of wines.

The Plan is a distinctive range of wines known for their vibrant, fruit-driven character and elegant acidity.  100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Deep crimson. Rich dark cherry and blackberry with subtle hints of cinnamon and vanilla. Charming flavors of cherry and blackberry with a subtle oak influence of chocolate and vanilla. An ideal partner for red meat, especially succulent roast dinners.
