About the Wine
Pax Mahle landed in Napa Valley in 1997. Following a stint as a wine buyer at Dean & Deluca, he started producing wines. He particularly focused on cool climate Syrah. With the launch of Wind Gap in Petaluma, he began to focus on lower alcohol Pinot Noir sourced from organic and low-intervention vineyards.
Critical Reviews
The 2016 Syrah Majik Vineyard is precise, lifted and super-expressive. Lavender, sage, mint and blueberry fruit are all nicely woven together in this savory, deeply-flavored yet mid-weight Syrah. Majik, a north-facing site, yields Syrahs that are focused, finely sculpted and a touch linear in style. The 2016 Majik is unquestionably one of the highlights in this lineup. I loved it. ~94VM
