During his tenure at Louis Latour, he has produced more than 40 wines rated 95+.
‘Echézeaux’ was originally owned by the Cistercian monks of Cîteaux, who also developed the neighboring Clos de Vougeot in 1109. Echezeaux was developed by laypeople who lived nearby. Echezeaux is both an AOC (since 1937) and a small portion has the designation of Grand Cru. Due to the arcane rules around land transfer in France, more than 80 vineyard owners divide the 86 acre vineyard. The most famous and prestigious owner is Domaine de la Romanee Conti, which produces wines that sell for thousands of dollars a bottle. Tasting Notes:Red Wine. 100% Pinot Noir. With a deep ruby color and garnet lights, the Echezeaux 2017 offers an intense nose combining black cherry, licorice, cinnamon, and undergrowth hints. The mouth is rich, very long with silky tannins. This wine has a great freshness accompanied by flavors of licorice, toasty coffee, and cherry flavors.
This has very attractive rose-petal and rose-hip notes with wild herbs and a swathe of fresh red cherries. The palate carries a succulent, juicy, and very fresh array of fine red cherries and a long and fresh, lacy finish with deep flavors. Try from 2022. ~95 James Suckling

I was skeptical about the 2017 Echezeaux Grand Cru when I tasted it from barrel, but it has rounded out nicely with further élevage and performed well from bottle. Mingling aromas of raspberries and cassis with hints of grilled squab and toasty new oak, it's medium to full-bodied, succulent and fleshy, built around powdery tannins and concluding with good length on the finish. ~92 Wine Advocate
