Planeta is one of the most iconic, and well known producers in Sicily. Fun fact? The winery was even featured in the critically acclaimed TV Show The White Lotus.

Alessio Planeta, head of Planeta, has been named "Winemaker of the Year" worldwide by the prestigious Wine Enthusiast magazine through their "Wine Star Awards" in 2023. 

The family history of this Sicilian Estate goes back for more than 5 centuries, where in such a closed and traditional culture, the Planeta family is not afraid to innovate and modernize. Diego Planeta along with other top-notch wine consultants from Italy like Giacomo Tachis, Carlo Corino, Giampaolo Fabris, and Attilio Scienza, have managed to position Planeta as the reference point in Sicilian and Italian winemaking. Tasting Notes

60% Nero d'Avola, 40% Nocera. Brilliant, intense ruby color with dark violet reflexes. Explosive nose with notes of Mediterranean maquis, blue fruits and jammy berries. On the palate thick but refined tannins are well integrated with the oak.

Bright ruby colour with dark nuances and garnet rim. On the nose nuances of dark fruit, as well as slightly smoky and a touch of gunpowder. Polished on the palate, spreads wide, with powerful body and firm tannins, long finish. ~92 Falstaff

Intense nose of blackcurrants, black plums, mocha, cloves, cigar box and iodine. It's medium-bodied with polished and integrated tannins. Solid center-palate. Nero d'avola and nocera. Drink or hold. ~92 James Suckling

Aromas of Mediterranean scrub and black-skinned berry shape the nose along with the barest whiffs of oak. Made with 60% Nero d'Avola and 40% Nocera, the elegantly structured palate features fleshy cherry and crushed blackberry alongside polished, enveloping tannins. ~90 Wine Enthusiast
