About the Wine

“One wine that shines particularly bright in the Veneto is the mighty Amarone, where “it is king,” made from only the best varietals in the region.” ~ Robert Parker

Stefano Accordini’s winemaking records date back over 100 years, but the modern story begins in 1982, with two visionary brothers, Tiziano and Daniele, who understood that to make progress and achieve greatness, they needed to innovate. They paid close attention to new technology and winemaking methods, and soon, they completely transformed Stefano Accordini into a state-of-the-art, award-winning winery.

In the 2000s, the two brothers made a daring move. They decided to shift their estate to the very heart of Valpolicella Classica, and it turned out to be a clever choice. They purchased more than 24 acres of land in Cavalo, located in the Fumane Valley. They formed a dynamic duo: Tiziano, the business strategist, and Daniele, the rockstar winemaker. This gamble they took paid off well. Their wines became even better and have stayed that way till now. Their winery now proudly holds the highest position in Valpolicella Classica. Today, the brothers own over 61 acres of vineyards in all the best regions of the Valpolicella.

After a careful selection process, the grapes for this Amarone, are placed in 6kg crates and left to rest in the winery's lofts. During the drying phase, a series of natural and biochemical changes, including Botrytis Noble, work to transform some of the sugars into glycerine. After pressing the dried grapes, maceration and alcoholic fermentation take place, giving rise to a wine that boasts a strong structure and an abundance of rich aromas. Following this, a 2-year aging period in both large oak barrels and tonneaux allows the Amarone Acinatico to develop its distinct character and personality.

Aging: 2 years in large oak barrels and tonneaux.

Tasting Notes

Corvina Veronese, Rondinella, Molinara. Amarone Acinatico comes from the selection of Valpolicella grapes that grow in the vineyards on the high hills. It is a red wine with a great structure, complex, elegant and velvety, with a warm and spicy bouquet and aromas of dried fruit. It requires a period of drying of the grapes and a prolonged aging in oak barrels.
