About the Wine
The Weinwurm family has a blast making wine and loves what they do. Representing all that the Austrian wine country has to offer. Georg and Lisa's love of wine and zest for life is well expressed in their wines and can be appreciated by any wine drinker. The 2018 Weinwurms Rosé is 3x gold medal winner from one of the best red wine producers in Austria, showcasing vibrance and the elite talents of one of Austria's finest producers. Scoop up your bottle of sunshine and get your cheer on with this vibrant and refreshing rosé!
The family winery is located in the north-eastern part of the Weinviertel but the Blauer Portugieser for this rosé is grown in Niederosterreich (Lower Austria). Third-generation Winemaker, Georg Weinwurm runs the winery with his wife Lisa and with the eager assistance of their young children Hannah and Paul. Together, the Weinwurms annually produce some of the highest-scoring Grunner's in Austria and are among the Austria Elites like Knoll, Edlinger, Schloss Goblesburg, etc.
In the 1950s, Georg's grandfather Anton Weinwurm planted his first vineyard. Today the family cultivates 28 hectares of vines planted with a wide variety of native grape varieties. Lively, powerful, and charming would be the description of Georg if he were a wine. During his apprenticeship, Georg traveled extensively but remained deeply rooted in the Weinviertel and the family business. The months with Andrew Peace in Australia and his experience with renowned Austrian winemakers are the foundation for Georg's work today. His wines are an expression of quality and joie de vivre. He is always striving to create something special. Georg lets the terroir speak for itself - the best Weinviertel soil. Georg's wine is not just a drink, but a living cultural asset, far away from monotonous mass-produced white wines that often fill the shelves.
Tasting Notes
Rose. 100% Blauer Portugieser. Hints of red currant and raspberries on the nose, spicy, almond, and citrus on the palate, fresh and fruity. A lovely rosé!
