About the Wine

Domaine Pere et Fils is one of our favorite under-the-radar producers of Burgundy. This is a family that, simply put, makes great Burgundy. The Poulleau family has crafted quality Burgundy since the 1960s. Established by husband and wife Michel and Jacqueline, their son Thierry and his wife Florence have since taken the reins. Over 90% of the wine they produce is made from Pinot Noir grown throughout Burgundy. They’re experts at producing reds that reflect the terroir from the regions they’re grown in.

Les Prevoles is a beautiful 3-acre vineyard located in Beaune. This vineyard is a paradise on earth, with 50-year-old vines that thrive in soils of clay, limestone, and marl. It’s harvested manually before aging in oak barrels. 

This amazing Red Burgundy is not only produced by one of the best Bourgogne vignerons but it was also born on an outstanding 98-point "hedonistic" vintage. 2019 was stated to be "perhaps rival 1865, the greatest vintage of all."

Aging: The wine is made 100% in French barrels, with 20% new oak.

Tasting Notes: 100% Pinot Noir. Deep and bright red. It shows beautiful notes of black and red fruits and remains round and elegant on the palate. This is a very rich and supple wine.

Reviews

Notes of sandalwood and raspberry preserves introduce this fruity red. Red cherry and wild strawberry flavors are sun-drenched but pristine on the palate, accented by sunny streaks of redcurrant acidity and soft, pillowy tannins. The finish lingers on hints of vanilla and smoky tea leaves. Ready now, the wine should maintain its peak through 2026 and hold further still. ~91 Wine Enthusiast
