About the Wine
Tenuta Tignanello estate is located in the heart of the Chianti Classico appellation. This estate is placed on an extremely blessed terroir, on soft hills with soils deriving from Pliocene marine marls with limestone and shale. The two most iconic labels from the Antinori family are produced from the Tignanello vineyard, Solaia, and world-renowned Super Tuscan, Tignanello. This vineyard is planted with Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc.
The Antinori family has been committed to the art of winemaking for over six centuries since 1385 when Giovanni di Piero Antinori became a member, of the “Arte Fiorentina dei Vinattieri”, the Florentine Winemakers’ Guild.
"We have demonstrated, over the years, that in Tuscany and in Umbria there was the possibility of producing excellent wines, widely recognized at an international level, which showed both elegance and finesse while maintaining their original character," says Piero Antinori.
Marchesi Antinori Chianti Classico Riserva is Antinori’s historic label. And for 11 years, this wine has been sourced from one of the best vineyards in the Tenuta, Tignanello vineyard. The result is a magnificent Chianti, that delivers finesse, elegance and power.
Tasting Notes: Sangiovese. Intense notes of ripe red fruit, cherries, currants, and raspberries lead over to elegant floral scents like rose, violets, and lavender. Subtil notes of tobacco, cinnamon, and cloves. Its palate is well-balanced with lively, silky tannins, with fresh acidity, and a persistent finish.
Beautiful aromas of roses and other flowers, together with cherries and orange peel. Medium-bodied with ultra-fine tannins that spread across the palate. Bright and long. Succulent and fine. Drink now. ~94 James Suckling.
This has enticing aromas recalling ripe plum, fragrant blue flower, and oak-driven spice. On the smooth, savory palate, supple, fine-grained tannins accompany juicy Marasca cherry, cassis, vanilla, and star anise. Fresh acidity keeps it balanced. ~92 Wine Enthusiast.
Luminous ruby red. It opened on the nose with a delicate scent of precious wood, fine blackberries, and wild berries, supported by fine spice, with an aftertaste of ripe cherries. Polished on the palate and with beautiful compactness, spreads finely over the tongue, also salty, great length. ~92 Falstaff.
