About the Wine

If you enjoy bright, acidic, and aromatic whites like Pinot Grigio or occasionally sip on Sauvignon Blanc, it's time to give Riesling a try. It's wonderfully refreshing, effortlessly approachable, and often overlooked simply because it’s not as widely known or available as its more famous counterparts.

Trimbach is one of the Top Alsace producers. They produce the highest-quality premium Riesling and Gewurztraminer wines, which constantly achieve great accolades. If you want to discover the true power and aging capacity of a high-quality Gewurztraminer, Maison Trimbach should be at the top of your list. This Maison is crafting some of the most exceptional white wines in the world.

Wine Spectator said, “In Alsace, although most wines tend to be dry and fuller-bodied than their German counterparts, Trimbach's house style is quite the opposite: graceful and intense, with an austere character.”

This Maison has been around since the 16th century when the Trimbach family arrived from Switzerland. Twelve generations of disruptive winemakers have impregned their expertise into Trimbach. Today, Pierre Trimbach, an enologist who graduated from Beaune, is leading this world-renowned estate.

Trimbach’s location couldn’t be more perfect. Its semi-continental weather brings extreme temperatures, with very cold winters, which are optimal for high-quality Riesling to thrive. The soil is composed of marl-limestone-sandstone and shell limestone (Muschelkalk), which gives Trimbach's wines a remarkable personality.

The 140-acre vineyard is planted with vines of 45 years of age on average. They’re distributed in some of the best terroirs in Alsace: Ribeauvillé, Bergheim y Hunawihr. Each of them provides different and exciting characteristics to the wines.

Trimbach’s vineyards are managed under sustainable practices and certified by the HVE3. For more than 10 years, they’ve been doing fully organic viticulture.

Critical Reviews

Bring on the oysters! This is so fresh and bright with plenty of apple, pear and citrus to balance the crisp acidity and the minerality that adds so much interest to the finish. Drink now. ~92 James Suckling

Located in the village of Ribeauvillé, in the heart of the Alsatian vineyard, at the foot of the Vosges foothills, Trimbach has been producing wines on this exceptional terroir for more than four centuries. Over the years, this family estate has acquired an enviable reputation for the quality consistency and purity of its wines. This Riesling, a dry and traditional white from Alsace, is an eloquent demonstration of this with its delicate bouquet evoking green apple, citrus fruits and a subtle touch of rosemary. Very fresh on the palate, the superb balance between its airy style, its distinguished fruitiness and its natural liveliness contribute to its great richness. This is one of the best Riesling buys in this price range, especially in this vibrant and precise vintage. Serve at 12°C. Delicious with shrimp salad, smoked salmon bagel, stuffed squid, ceviche, salmon tartare, shrimp with coriander and grapefruit. ~91 Bacchus Magazine

A racy white, with a pretty, petrol-laced overtone to the flavors of apricot, lemon wax and almond blossom. Finely meshed, with good length and a tang of salinity through the mouthwatering finish. ~90 Wine Spectator
