About The Wine

Tikal is the creative vision of Ernesto Catena, a fourth-generation Argentine winemaker whose father, Nicolás Catena, helped lead the country's modern wine revolution.

Trained in economics and design and as comfortable with art and horses as he is with vines, Ernesto founded Tikal to treat winemaking as an art form — from organically and biodynamically farmed vineyards through to the striking labels he designs himself. The range carries names that read like a celebration of life: Corazón, Amorío, Patriota and, at the top, Júbilo — Spanish for "rejoice." It's the wine in which Ernesto pours his fullest expression of joy.

Júbilo is sourced from a single certified-organic vineyard in Gualtallary, one of the highest and most coveted sites in the Uco Valley, where extreme altitude and stony soils yield wines of energy and precision.

A Bordeaux-inspired blend of Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon aged sixteen months in oak, it's deep, layered and built to last — concentrated dark fruit framed by minerality, fine tannins and a long, savory finish.

Powerful yet refined, it rewards the table now and the cellar for years to come.

CRITIC REVIEWS

What the Critics Said

A juicy malbec and cabernet sauvignon blend that shows black cherries, dried herbs, violets and wet stone. Nice tension and texture on the mid-palate, with lots of juicy blue fruit on the medium- to full-bodied palate. Quite fresh and long. Some 15% of the cabernet is fermented as whole bunches. Drink or hold. ~95 James Suckling

Blending 60% Malbec and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2020 Tikal Jubilo Single Vineyard is Bordelaise-inspired, with a full-bodied intensity of tobacco and herb. The finish is lengthy and suggests further aging another 5-7 years. ~90 Jeb Dunnuck
