About the Wine

This Maison has been around since the 16^th century when the Trimbach family arrived from Switzerland. Twelve generations of disruptive winemakers have impregned their expertise into Trimbach. Today, Pierre Trimbach, an enologist who graduated from Beaune, is leading this world-renowned estate.

Trimbach’s location couldn’t be more perfect. Its semi-continental weather brings extreme temperatures, with very cold winters, which are optimal for high-quality Riesling to thrive. The soil is composed of marl-limestone-sandstone and shell limestone (Muschelkalk), which gives Trimbach's wines a remarkable personality. 

The 140-acre vineyard is planted with vines of 45 years of age on average. They’re distributed in some of the best terroirs in Alsace: Ribeauvillé, Bergheim y Hunawihr. Each of them provides different and exciting characteristics to the wines.

​Trimbach’s vineyards are managed under sustainable practices and certified by the HVE3. For more than 10 years, they’ve been doing fully organic viticulture.

Tasting Notes

100% Riesling. Lush and intriguing, shining with a golden-copper glow. Sun-ripened Amalfi lemon, echinacea, and beeswax entice on the nose. The palate is rich and layered, with a velvety weight lifted by vibrant acidity, unfolding into a long, lingering finish.

Critical Reviews

Intense aromas of grape skin hints at a developing petrol note show on the nose. On the palate, this wine is racy and rippling, shimmering with acidity. Notes of lemon zest and wet slate are both beautifully characteristic and incredibly food friendly. Pair this with a weeknight pasta or chicken, and you'll feel like you're enjoying a fancy weekend dinner. ~93 Wine Enthusiast

Although this is packed with citrus, pear and white-peach aromas, it's so pure and straight that the simple description "fruity" would be far too one-sided to adequately describe what makes this wine stand out. So energetic that it feels much lighter than it really is (13% alcohol). Fine tannins at the finish underline the dry style. Drink or hold. ~92 James Suckling
