About the Wine

"Verdejo is the grape that put the little region of Rueda on the world wine map, where it’s made into some of Spain’s finest white wines." ~ Decanter.

2020 Vicente Gandia Nebla Verdejo comes from the region of Castilla y León, on the Rueda apellation. This charming white wine reflects the classic characteristics of a typical young Verdejo: Intense and aromatic nose with notes of fennel and citrus, an acidity that refreshes the whole mouth and a great structure on the palate.

If you're a foodie, you're going to love this Verdejo! This wine pairs lovely with Mediterranean cuisine, Mexican spicy food, and seafood.

Vicente Gandia, the founder of this winery with the same name, was a businessman with a visionary mind. In 1885, he approached the wine market with the intention of producing and commercializing them. Many years and a series of unfortunate events later, Vicente Gandia is recognized as one of the best estates in Spain, and one of the 46 most profitable wineries in the country according to the Plimsoll ranking.

Currently, this family business is directed by José María Gandia Perales, who has managed to consolidate the company and raise the quality of the wines, as well as create new labels of innovative and fresh wines for the young audience.

In the region of Utiel, is located Hoya de Cadenas, the estate where Vicente Gandia’s beautiful wines with Mediterranean character are produced. Here, the family oversees the production of wines from some of the most recognized appellations in Spain such as Utiel-Requena, Valencia, Alicante, Rioja, Ribera del Duero, Rías Baixas, Rueda, and Cava.

The estate is comprised of over 400 acres within a microclimate blessed with calcareous clay soils and a Mediterranean climate, resulting in beautiful, elegant, and fresh wines. The vineyard is managed in a sustainable way, certified by ISO 14001. They are fully committed to the environment, implementing the use of renewable energy, reducing packaging, controlling water consumption, among other practices. The vinification cellar is equipped with modern and advanced technology.

This winery has attracted the attention not only of some of the best wine critics in the world but also of some renowned celebrities such as the 7-time champion of Formula 1, Michael Schumacher, who has confessed to being a fanatic of their wines.

The wines have also appeared in important Hollywood films like Mystic River and Girl Gets Girl, and they have participated in the charity project called "Whatever it Takes", a campaign that allocates funds to different causes such as poverty alleviation, conservation of the environment, or protection of children. In this project, the winery collaborated with some artists like David Bowie, George Clooney, Penelope Cruz, Pierce Brosnan, and Coldplay.

Tasting Notes: Aromas of fennel, freshly mown hay and tropical fruits like pineapple and mango. On the palate it is buttery with a fine fruity finish and refreshing acidity.
