About the Wine
This Montepulciano blend is truly intriguing, as dark as it gets, with a big, juicy fruit profile that's like a blueberry explosion. It's a powerful wine that will captivate you from the very first sip!
James Suckling describes Montepulciano wines as "dense black fruit with brooding complexity, concentration, and seriousness." and that these wines are "solid, rich, easy to like." Over the years, we've found people who love Napa Valley Cabernet also love Montepulciano. Given the inflationary prices out of Napa, this is absolutely a wine and region to be stocking up on. Side note, if you also love high quality Amarone, you'll also fall quickly for this wine.
Right in the middle of the Pessaro Hills, in the wine region of Le Marche, you’ll find Azienda Agraria Guerrieri, a family-owned winery that has been producing wine for more than 200 years. Today, this boutique Italian winery is run by the 6th generation of the Guerrieri family, Luca, Maria Giulia, and Alberto Guerrieri. This is Central Italy on the east coast, overlooking the Adriatic Sea.
Guerrieri comprises 48 acres of vineyards, planted in gray and blue marl soils, consisting of calcareous clay and silt. The vineyard is managed 100% under organic practices, with a minimum intervention policy.
Guerrieri's philosophy of respect does not only apply to the vineyard, it also extends to the people. They're extremely responsible for the environment, the community, and their people. Their life mantra is to "Restore the ancient knowledge of our ancestors: Simplicity, respect, sustainability, solidarity."
Aging: 10 months in French oak barrels.
Tasting Notes
Sangiovese, Montepulciano, Cabernet Sauvignon. Intense ruby red wine with a persistent structure. It is elegant and complex with scents of violets, vanilla, cacao, spices and menthol tobacco.
