About the Wine

“One of my favorite wineries, Beau Vigne’s Vineyard, sits at a high elevation in the southern Napa Valley, back Soda Canyon Road, overlooking the Pritchard Hill Gap as well as the Stagecoach Vineyard. The AVA for these wines is Atlas Peak, and the soils are all of volcanic origin. This winery is currently on a qualitative roll.” ~Robert Parker

Renowned winemaker Julien Fayard uses his expertise to produce wines that express pure, terroir-driven specificities and characteristics. Julien gained his knowledge and defined his core winemaking style from working at grand Chateaux in France, such as Lafite Rothschild and Smith Haut Lafitte.

Beau Vigne flies under the radar as a “hidden gem” and small boutique winery producing only a few thousand cases a year. Fans and critics alike flock to the winery for its outstanding wines and genuine hospitality, including famed critic Robert Parker, who refers to Beau Vigne as “one of my favorite wineries.”

Beau Vigne’s wines are highly esteemed and cherished among some of the world’s most important winemakers, and they have achieved numerous high accolades. Today, they are considered among Napa Valley’s most acclaimed wines.

Aging: 21 months in 80% new French oak.

Tasting Notes

86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Petite Verdot, and the rest Merlot and Cabernet Franc.

The Romeo is a bold, luxurious red exploding with blackberry, dark cherry, and hints of mocha and spice. Rich layers of plum, cassis, and licorice glide over powerful tannins, delivering a velvet-smooth texture. Long, opulent, and unforgettable, it’s a wine that dazzles now and only grows more magnificent with age.

Critic Reviews

An inviting floral note in the aroma leads to beautiful cherry and berry flavors and an agreeable, moderately tannic texture in this full-bodied but approachable wine. It shows more complexity with each sip and ends with a lingering finish. ~96 Wine Enthusiast

Attractive nose of blackcurrants, dark cherries, dried herbs, bay leaves, and baking spices. Dried berry. Full-bodied with plush tannins. Rich with plenty of berry character here and well-structured development on the finish. Compact and focused. Some cold fruity character overall. ~92 James Suckling

The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Signature Series Romeo is another uber-ripe wine with charm. Blue fruits, plums, graphite, scorched earth, and chocolate all define the nose, and it's full-bodied, with a ripe, round, opulent mouthfeel, the firmer yet ripe tannins of the vintage, and a big finish. As with many of the wines from Beau Vigne, it's almost over the top but holds it together. ~ 92 Jeb Dunnuck
