About The Wine

Tenute Silvio Nardi is one of the historic estates of Montalcino, founded in 1950 when Silvio Nardi — a successful Umbrian businessman — purchased Casale del Bosco on the northwest side of the hill. The first Brunello vintage rolled out in 1954, before the Consorzio even existed. They were early bottlers, early believers, and they've stayed that way for seven decades.

Rosso di Montalcino is the younger sibling of Brunello — same Sangiovese, same vineyards, shorter aging. Think of it as a mini-Brunello you can open tonight without waiting a decade. It's the wine you reach for when you want Montalcino depth and purity without the cellar commitment.

The 2021 shows ripe wild cherry and red fruit lifted by wildflowers and herbs. Medium-bodied, velvety tannins, bright acidity keeping everything in balance. Fresh, clean, and built to drink now — the kind of Sangiovese that makes you remember why Tuscany matters.

CRITIC REVIEWS

What the Critics Said

The 2021 Rosso di Montalcino opens with a dark and herbal-tinged mix of musky wild berries and cedar shavings. It’s pleasantly sweet upon entry, with cooling acidity and ripe red and blue fruits that swirl throughout. This tapers off long and staining, leaving a licorice tinge and hints of blackberry preserve that slowly fade. The 2021 takes the taster on a journey, starting like a whisper but gaining volume and momentum toward the close. The end result is quite pleasurable. ~91 Vinous

Sunny and Mediterranean, it displays notes of red plums, wild strawberries, cherries, black cherries, and mixed red flowers. Medium body, rounded tannins, and a tasty finish with excellent flavor. Beautiful and essential. Drink now. ~ 91 WinesCritic.com
