About the Wine

This flagship bottling from Cristom is a perfect representation of just what kind of Pinot Noir the Eola-Amity Hills can produce. With an extremely approachable style, and a backbone to support it, this is the perfect bottle for drinking today or ten years from now. Whether you are a staunch Burgundy drinker or if RRV Pinot is more your speed, this wine will deliver on every level.

Mt. Jefferson Cuvée is a representation of the Cristom approach to winemaking from some of the finest vineyards in the Eola-Amity Hills with a focus on fruit from the estate. With a focus on whole clusters and native yeast, ‘Mt. Jeff is the foundation of the winery and the flagship wine of the brand.

Bringing together biodynamic and organic farming methods, Cristom farms the land with the next 100 years in mind. The estate's wine-growing centers on the philosophy that the greatest expression of terroir produces the finest wines. The cornerstone of its winemaking is rooted in traditional methods – site selection, low yields, whole-cluster fermentation, and native yeasts – to produce balanced, dynamic wines of intensity, structure, and length.

Tasting Notes: 100% Pinot Noir.  A concentrated ruby color. The nose erupts with red fruit, lots of fresh berries, and ruby pomegranates. Secondary aromas of black tea and forest floor are easily coaxed out of the glass with a light swirl. On the palate, this is richly built around a strong backbone with a long and refreshing finish.

Reviews

A lively, precise and well-composed pinot with notes of sour cherries, red currants, crushed roses and mild spices on the nose, followed through to a medium body with bright acidity. It’s crisp and spot-on, with succulent wild berries at the center and verve throughout.Drink or hold. ~94 James Suckling

Wildly exotic, the 2022 Pinot Noir Mt. Jefferson Cuvée captivates with its seductive blend of dried flowers, incense, rosemary and dried strawberries. This is wonderfully fresh, nearly crunchy in feel, with stimulating acidity offsetting its tart red fruits and hints of sour citrus that pucker the cheeks. The 2022 finishes with youthful tension, lightly structured yet cooling and fresh, leaving suggestions of tart raspberry. About 52% whole cluster fermentation. ~93 Vinous Media
