Chateauneuf-du-Pape is the most famous red wine appellation in the Southern Rhône — a sun-drenched stretch of ancient vineyards between Orange and Avignon where the papal court once made its home. The wines here are bold, aromatic, and deeply complex: think ripe dark fruit, wild herbs, black pepper, and earth, with a structure that rewards years in the cellar. Domaine des Sénéchaux is one of the oldest estates in the appellation, with roots stretching back centuries to the lieu-dit known as Bois Séneseau — the Sheriff's Wood. Under the leadership of the Cazes family — owners of the legendary Chateau Lynch-Bages in Bordeaux — Sénéchaux has become one of the most reliable and celebrated names in the region.

The 2022 vintage is among the estate's best on record. The wine blends Grenache with Syrah, Mourvèdre, and small amounts of Cinsault and Vaccarèse from vineyards spread across the appellation. Winemaker Bernard Tranchecoste ages the wine in a combination of old French oak barrels, large foudres, and cement vats — a method that preserves freshness and terroir while adding structure and depth.

The result is Chateauneuf at its most complete: rich and spicy on the nose, refined and balanced on the palate, with the kind of length that marks a wine worth holding.
