About the Offer
Tignanello is one of the top Super Tuscans. This world-renowned wine was the first Sangiovese to be aged in small oak barrels, the first Italian red wine in modern times to use a non-traditional grape variety (Cabernet) in the blend, and among the first Italian red wines made in Chianti appellation with no use of white grapes. The wine is only produced in exceptional vintages and it is considered one of the blue chips in all of Italy.
The Antinori family has been committed to the art of winemaking for over six centuries since 1385 when Giovanni di Piero Antinori became a member, of the “Arte Fiorentina dei Vinattieri”, the Florentine Winemakers’ Guild.
Tignanello, is produced exclusively from a 140-acre vineyard site at Antinori’s Tignanello estate which is planted between 1,150 and 1,312 feet above sea level. Tenuta Tignanello estate is located in the heart of the Chianti Classico appellation. As you can imagine, given the fact that Tignanello is one of the world’s greatest wines, this estate is placed on an extremely blessed terroir, on soft hills with soils deriving from Pliocene marine marls with limestone and shale.
The two most iconic labels from the Antinori family are produced from the Tignanello vineyard, Solaia and this amazing Super Tuscan. This vineyard is planted with Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. These two wines are called "among the most influential wines in Italian winemaking history".
Tignanello was revolutionary in its rejection of traditional Chianti regulations, being one of the first to blend Sangiovese with Bordeaux varieties and exclude white grapes entirely, effectively creating a new category of Italian wine that would pave the way for the Super Tuscan movement.
The 2022 Tignanello is a masterfully composed blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc, crafted with precision from start to finish. Each lot was vinified separately in truncated conical tanks to lock in the purity of aroma and extract the sleek, refined tannins that define this iconic wine.
After completing malolactic fermentation in small oak barrels, the wine matured for just over 13 months in new French oak with a touch of Hungarian oak for lift and nuance. A final 12 months of bottle aging polished every detail, delivering a wine with remarkable aromatic finesse, layered complexity, and seamless structure.
In the glass, 2022 Tignanello beams a deep ruby red with flashes of purple. The nose bursts with cherries, black cherries, and pomegranate, lifted by delicate violet florals and fresh balsamic tones. Subtle touches of vanilla and cotton candy add intrigue.
On the palate, the wine is bold yet composed—savory, sculpted tannins drive a dynamic, energetic texture, balanced by striking freshness. The finish is long, graceful, and echoing, carrying forward every note from the bouquet with precision and elegance.

A slightly different breed than the ’21, the 2022 Antinori ‘Tignanello’ Red Wine really needs about an hour in the decanter to get going. I enjoyed this wine on five occasions while staying in Firenze and each time I noticed how the wine began to slowly evolve after an hour. It is even more heady and intense than the ’21, with a seamless texture and polished tannins that frame a gorgeous core of creme de violette, cassis, loamy soils and suggestions of sweet pipe tobacco on the palate. A total headturning bottling, make sure to give this a lot of air if enjoying in its heady youth. ~ 99 Owen Bargreen
Rich and fruit-forward, the Marchesi Antinori 2022 Tignanello very much respects the vintage that tends to deliver more concentration and volume overall. It delivers extra fruit weight with a velvety, satiny feel over a generous mouthfeel. Tignanello offers blackcurrant and cherry, but there is a mineral note that keeps things focused. This is a beautiful expression of the vintage, with excellent work done to execute soft tannins, texture and length. ~ 97 Robert Parker, Wine Advocate
There’s extraordinary energy in this wine. It displays a dark nose of black cherries, bramble fruit, violets, forest, licorice, bark, carob and leather. Density and tension dominate the full-bodied palate, with firm, velvety tannins. It’s slightly austere in the finish at the moment, yet it’s crunchy and full of potential. Try from 2026. ~ 96 James Suckling
Tignanello in 2022 is a blend of 78% Sangiovese, 18% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Cabernet Franc. Pot-pourri-infused red and black berry aromas introduce a succulent palate of good intensity. It's well balanced and bright, with cashmere tannins supporting a core of sapid hedgerow berries outlined by crushed rock minerality and bitter herbs. The finish is slightly disjointed, displaying a touch of alcohol warmth and wood which is yet to fully integrate, but given time it should come good. ~ 95 Decanter
The 2022 Tignanello is such an elegant, poised wine. Brisk acids cut through a core of red Sangiovese fruit. Crushed flowers, mint, cinnamon, rose petal and a kiss of French oak appear later, adding notable brightness. The 2022 is a decidedly mid-weight Tignanello, but all the elements are very nicely balanced throughout. Tignanello saw rain episodes at the end of the season, like most properties, but steep, well-draining hillsides were a clear advantage. The blend is 78% Sangiovese, 18% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Cabernet Franc, essentially the classic proportions here. ~ 95 Vinous Media
The rich texture wraps around plum, cherry, graphite, tobacco and earth flavors, with a line of dusty tannins underneath. Fresh, elegant and long, ending with a pleasant astringency. Give this a year or two to integrate. Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Best from 2027 through 2040. ~ 94 Wine Spectator
(2025) The original 'super Tuscans', Tignanello, broke the mould as it contained some Bordeaux varieties as well as local hero Sangiovese, and it was matured in small French oak barriques, just like the top wines of Bordeaux. The 2022 is a blend of 78% Sangiovese, 18% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Cabernet Franc. It is a pretty, medium-weight vintage, deliciously drinkable now but with a decade plus of cellaring potential surely. The nose is lifted by violet and kirsch over plush and ripe black berries, a fine wreath of cedar and tobacco beneath. Taut on the palate in its youth, there is an ash and liquorice firmness to the tannins, but the mid-palate concentration and supple sweetness of fruit leaves no room for doubt that it is a wine with great potential. Hints of bitter cocoa and tobacco add complexity in the long finish, which has fine acid balance. ~ 94 Tom Cannavan
